about

High quality studio recording from this ' experimental avant-jazz combo'.
The intimicy and the directness of the crystal clear recordings are sublime and make 4Walls swing between a classical approach and hyper-modern energy. Produced by Zlaya Hadzic
The eleven songs have a range of diversity. Less improvisations than in the past though still the songs are atmospheric and mysterious. Melodies are pleasantly sweet, noise is oppressive and the band’s free-expression is beautifully lush.
Four pieces of the late poet Paul Haines are transformed into strong compositions. Plus two poems written by Ho Chi Minh when he was in jail. And a piece based on an e-mail dialogue between writer Lou Glanfield and the KKK-website. And then there’s a wonderful stripped down version of Jacques Brel’s “Ces Gens-la”, an impression on Robert Schumann’s “Im Rhein” and the American traditional “Which Side Are You On”.
